Oct 22, 2021 ¡ Since the 0W30 oil is more viscous, it may evaporate quickly at a higher temperature. However, owing to the slightly thicker consistency, the oils with 5W30 attributes will handle high temperatures well. So, the latter oil will be better for places with warmer weather.
Feb 27, 2021 ¡ Due to tightened fuel economy mandates in US Toyota recommends use of 0w-16 and 0w-20. For example in Australia fuel efficiency standards have not been implemented yet and Toyota recommends oil grades 0W-20, 5W-20, 5W-30 and 10W-30. If I had late model Toyota 1.8 or 2.0 my preferred grade would be 5W-30 or 10W-30.
May 18, 2023 ¡ For countries without those regs, like Australia, the manual for the same engine specifies MANY weights without the message to switch back. From 0w-20 to 0w-16 one gets about 1% better mileage. It took a while to engineer the oil, but it is rated for the same service. 1% might amount to about 0.3 miles/gal more.
May 31, 2012 ¡ If Titanium is as marketed as âbetter thanâ Syntec, why are A3/B3 oil grades 0w-30 & 5w-40, which meet Daimler 229.5 & 229.3, etc. not offered here in the U.S. as a Edge Titanium? Syntec meets a higher-(more difficult) spec but Titanium in marketing is referred to as âŚ.âmost advanced oilâ, but it does not meet the most advanced specâs?

The chosen winter rating will be dependent on your expected starting conditions, if it is below -35F or so then an oil with a 0W winter rating will be beneficial. If it is above 0F then any winter rating is acceptable.
As 0w20 has less viscosity than 5w30, it provides a better efficiency around 10-12% higher than 5w30. It doesnât impact fuel economy. Though 0w20 consumes low fuel, it is costlier than 5w30. For this, Most European companies rarely suggest the 0w20 motor oils. Also, Itâs easier to find 5w30 motor oil in a regular lubrication store than 0w20.
